India AI Readiness Index

Status: in design · wave 1 collecting

Global indices rank governments, infrastructure and investment. Nobody tells a mid-level manager in Coimbatore, a first-year student in Trichy or a parent in Madurai where their people actually stand. The India AI Readiness Index measures the human side — individual readiness, by audience and by tier — year after year.

What the index measures

Five dimensions per audience, each cut by Tier 1 / 2 / 3. The scoring model is deterministic and will be published in full before the first edition.

Awareness

Does the person understand what AI already does in their field — beyond headlines?

Adoption

Actual hands-on use — frequency, depth and judgment, not just having tried a chatbot once.

Learning behaviour

Is there a habit of practice — time, consistency, direction — or only intention?

Anxiety vs. agency

The gap between fear and action — the single most decision-relevant number for policy and product alike.

Support structures

Whether school, employer, family or community actually helps — or leaves the person alone with a chatbot.

Why there is no number here yet

Because the sample is not real yet. An index that launches with invented percentages is marketing wearing a lab coat. This one publishes when every segment clears 100+ responses — with its N, its wording and its collection window attached. Until then, the most useful thing you can do is take the survey.
